SAMANTHA BITTMAN

Samantha Bittman's solo exhibition, "Interwoven," showcases her innovative approach to textile art, seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship with digital design. Bittman's works create a captivating interplay between the physical and the virtual, as she conceives her pieces using digital tools like Photoshop and Illustrator before bringing them to life through the tactile medium of textiles. The exhibition highlights Bittman's unique ability to merge the realms of technology and art, resulting in a collection of works that challenge conventional boundaries and invite viewers to explore the intersection of digital creativity and traditional textile techniques.

LOGO & Typeface The logo for Samantha Bittman's "Interwoven" exhibition draws inspiration from the recurring square motifs in her textile artworks. The modular typeface, constructed from an arrangement of squares, reflects the structural elements found in Bittman's pieces and embodies the concept of weaving. The inclusion of textile textures within the logo enhances this connection, adding depth and tactility to the design. The resulting logo serves as a compelling visual representation of the exhibition, capturing the essence of Bittman's work.

Brand PostersThe posters incorporate a series of modular typefaces, enhanced with patterns composed of basic geometric shapes. These patterns extend from the letters, interweaving to align with the exhibition theme, while presenting textile textures in a more digital, electronic form.

Generative DesignA digital loom, created by P5JS, allows users to draw patterns on a canvas using their mouse, mimicking the motion of a shuttle. As the mouse glides across the vertical lines on the screen, patterns emerge, enabling users to create their own digital textile works. This immersive experience offers a unique exploration of the relationship between the physical and the digital.
WebsiteTo enhance user engagement, I incorporated dynamic elements into the website design. A captivating logo animation greets visitors, setting the tone for their journey through MCASD's virtual space. As users navigate the pages, thoughtfully crafted motion graphics guide their attention to key content, highlighting essential information and creating a sense of interaction.

The integration of motion design elevates the user experience, transforming the website into a dynamic and engaging digital environment that aligns with MCASD's commitment to innovation and creativity.
